Media Release: Ride Don’t Hide set to draw hundreds of cyclists to Peel Region in support of mental health

On June 22 join CMHA Peel and cycle to raise awareness and acceptance

Brampton, Ontario – The Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch (CMHA Peel) today announces its new mental health awareness event Ride Don’t Hide, calling on cyclists from across the GTA to join the movement that’s sweeping the nation.

Ride Don’t Hide is a national cycling event taking place in local communities across Canada on June 22, 2014, in support of Canadian Mental Health Association branches.  CMHA Peel’s Ride Don’t Hide takes place in the beautiful Caledon countryside and brings together experienced and recreational cyclists, families and corporations to fight the stigma of mental illness, and promote positive mental health, one pedal at a time.

Ride Don’t Hide Peel features 3 distances with all routes starting and ending at Lloyd Wilson Centennial Park in the picturesque village of Inglewood.  The 20 km Family Ride is traffic-free, utilizing part of the Trans Canada Trail System, while 50 km and 100 km road routes will challenge experienced cyclists and enthusiasts.

For more information visit www.ridedonthide.com and click on Peel Region/Caledon Hills to join the movement and sign up.  Local businesses, schools and community groups are also encouraged to get involved by joining as a team, or hosting an event.  Ride Don’t Hide is open to cyclists of all ages and skill levels. Registration is $35 for youth and adults ($30 if you register by April 30) and free for children 12 and under.
