Davidson Scholarship Fund

The Davidson Scholarship Fund provides financial support to individuals experiencing mental health concerns to pursue education.
What is Davidson Scholarship Fund?
The Davidson Scholarship Fund was established through a bequest to CMHA Peel Dufferin to provide bursaries to individuals whose recovery goals include the pursuit of formal study at recognized teaching institutions.
Davidson Scholarship – Selection Criteria
Applicants
Applicants must be utilizing CMHA Peel Dufferin Vocational Support Services or actively working on vocational goals with a support worker from any CMHA Peel Dufferin program.
Education
Applicant must be enrolled or planning to enrol in a recognized educational institute or online course. Priority to course(s) leading to a certificate or diploma and consideration will be given to general interest courses (conferences not eligible.)
Financial Criteria
Applicant should identify other sources of funding and where the financial need is required. Financial assistance towards schooling in the form of grants should be noted. Funding being requested must be for course starting on or after April 1st, 2021. Applicants requesting reimbursement for courses already paid for will not be considered.
Applicants taking courses from OSAP eligible institutions must apply for OSAP before submitting applications.
Application and Approval Process
November 1, 2022 | Application forms and criteria will be distributed to Program Managers of CMHA Peel Dufferin, posted on our web site and distributed to affiliated programs. | ||
February 17, 2023 | Deadline for all applications. | ||
March 17, 2023 | Vocational Committee will have met and made a decision on the awards.
1 or 2 Board members will join the Vocational meeting to determine the recipients of the scholarship. |

To be considered, application forms must be completed in full, including references. If possible, a reference letter attesting to the likelihood of the candidate successfully completing the program should be attached to the application.
Awards Criteria
The award is typically between $400 and $800, depending on the number of eligible applicants. Awards will be payable to the bursary recipient, after receipt of proof of registration in the course; or the institution will be paid directly on behalf of the applicant.
If applicant terminates course within the first quarter, the bursary money must be returned to CMHA Peel Dufferin. Special consideration will be made for medical reasons. Upon completion of the course, bursary recipients must forward a copy of their transcript of course results to CMHA Peel Dufferin. A file will be kept indicating the amount of bursaries and number of applicants who graduate.
Applicants may apply more than once, provided they have complied with all of the criteria in the past.
