Peel Region Mental Health and Justice Services
Mental Health & Justice Services offers intensive individual assistance and advocacy around accessing community resources and services to individuals experiencing mental health concerns, who are in conflict with the law.
- Court Diversion – connecting clients with community service providers to address their mental health concerns, instead of going through the court process.
- Release from Custody Planning – helping clients transition back into their home communities after being released from custody in Maplehurst Correctional Complex, Ontario Correctional Institute or Vanier Centre for Women.
- Housing – providing clients with apartments and long-term support around life skills, personal growth and recovery goals.
- Mental health support for individuals and their families, including access to group programs such as: peer support, fitness promotion, social recreation and family support.
- Connections to the broader community through volunteering, social or recreational activities and continuing education.

Dufferin Court Support Services
Mental Health and Justice Services helps people who are experiencing mental health concerns (whether diagnosed or with symptoms suggesting a major mental illness) who are also charged with a criminal offense.
Who can benefit?
Anyone 18 years of age or over who are experiencing mental health concerns who are also charged with a criminal offense.
What are the major benefits?
- Support for easier navigation through the justice system by connecting individuals with community service providers to address their mental health concerns instead of a punitive sentence
- Helps clients transition back into their home communities after being released on bail from custody
- Provides mental health support, education and advocacy for individuals and their families and connect people to the broader community through volunteering, social or recreational activities.
