If you don’t properly track your progress, you won’t understand where you came from and where you’re headed. Whether it’s your first race or your tenth, keeping a journal of your training and overall progress is very important.
There are 2 parts that you should track:
-A specific daily/weekly training program that includes your exact goals for the week. For example, on Monday you will ride for 20 minutes or for 5km; on Tuesday you will train legs in the gym and stretch and so on…
-A record of your specific distance, duration, gym results and outcome variables (how you felt, recovery, time of day and if that impacted your performance).
Using a spreadsheet or printing out a table that allows you to write in the columns daily in an organized manner can help you achieve next level success. Also, by having a clear plan of action and being able to visually see your progress, you can then set bigger goals and achieve greater success!
Remember, the journey is where the real transformation takes place. The journey is the part where you evolve and become a bigger and better you. The journey is where you grow, challenge yourself and push yourself to the next level. Enjoy the journey and be proud of yourself. By properly recording your progress during this phase, you can see for yourself.
