Media Release: CMHA invites you to be part of something BIGGER!
Jun 20, 2018
Brampton, Ontario – The Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin is gearing up for its 5th annual Ride Don’t Hide, a community bike ride and walk through the Caledon Hills to raise awareness and funds for local mental health programs. On, June 24, 2018 thousands of Canadians from all walks of life will join the annual Ride Don’t Hide community bike ride in support of local CMHA mental health programs. With only one month to go, CMHA Peel Dufferin is already seeing a 36% increase in riders, making this our BIGGEST ride yet.
CMHA Peel Dufferin’s goal is to raise $60,000 for local youth mental health, awareness and wellness initiatives. Over 300 cyclists and walkers are expected to tackle the 5 picturesque routes and 100 volunteers are needed to assist on event day. CMHA invites everyone in the community to join us or donate and show your support for the 1 in 5 Canadians who live with mental health issues – our family members, friends and neighbours. CMHA Peel Dufferin’s Ride Don’t Hide offers a wonderful opportunity for friends, families and coworkers to get outdoors and explore the beautiful Caledon countryside. New this year, participants can choose to do a 5km (family & pet-friendly) fun-walk along the scenic Caledon Trailway or cycle one of 4 cycling routes (100km, 50km, 25km or 20km Family Ride).
Cyclists and walkers of all ages can sign up at ridedonthide.com/on/ride/peel-dufferin/. Ride Don’t Hide is a welcoming and inclusive community event with free registration for virtual riders and kids 12 and under, $25 registration fee for Walk for Life–Walk for Hope, $55 registration fee for adults and youth cyclists, and there is no minimum fundraising.
“Ride Don’t Hide is a great opportunity for the community to come together and say mental health is important to me, and it’s ok to talk about it,” says CMHA Peel CEO David Smith. “The support from the community over the last five years of the Ride has been outstanding and we look forward to an inspiring day on June 24th.”
