South Asian Community Forum: Opioid Crisis and Overdose Prevention

Do you or a family member have concerns about drug use?  Worried about the prescription painkillers in your cupboard?  Have questions about opioids but worry about judgement or don’t know who to ask?

Opioids have been linked to 1 in 6 deaths among young adults in Ontario[1].  At the same time, more than half (64.2%) of South Asian residents in Ontario who reported problems with mental health did not seek help.[2]

Our Presenter

Samim Hasham, BSc. Pharm (Hons), PharmD, MMngt, CDE

Samim Hasham obtained her Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Pharmacy from Robert Gordon University, Scotland, her Master’s in International Health Leadership from McGill University, and her Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Colorado.

She is a consultant with Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin at the newly established Rapid Access Addiction Clinics (RAAC). She is also the Director of Professional Services, Urbancare and owner of Morrish Pharmacy in Scarborough, Ontario.
