Sweedian Robinson Memorial Scholarship

When Sweedian passed away suddenly on September 20, 2021, we lost not only an amazing friend, family member, and colleague; we lost a true mental health champion. First as a Peer Worker, and later as a Crisis Worker, Sweedian dedicated her life to helping others with compassion and from her own first-hand experience with the mental health system.

The family of Sweedian Robinson, is partnering with the Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin to establish the Sweedian Robinson Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is developed to continue the peer-based mental health work that Sweedian was so passionate about during her life.

The Sweedian Robinson Memorial Scholarship represents the importance of peer-based mental health work. It will be opened annually to CMHA Peel Dufferin staff, clients; anyone who lives in the CMHA Peel Dufferin service area who:

• Has lived experience with mental health challenges and/or addictions, on a path to recovery.
• Is/will seek training or education that allows peer supporters to contribute to formal or professional peer settings.
• Priority may be given to youth and those who identify as part of a racialized community.
