‘Healing Through Compassion’: This year’s theme for Mental Health Week 2024

As we step into another significant Mental Health Week, Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Peel Dufferin is proud to lead the charge in promoting mental well-being and increasing awareness across our communities. This year, from May 6th to 12th, we embrace the theme of “Healing Through Compassion,” inspired by the national dialogue on the importance of active compassion towards improving mental health.

Compassion Connects Us All

Recent findings from CMHA National highlight a thought-provoking reality: although a vast majority of Canadians (92%) consider themselves compassionate, only a fraction (38%) have actively taken steps to alleviate the hardships faced by others in the past year. This gap underscores a critical opportunity for growth in how we support each other’s mental health through tangible acts of kindness and support. (CMHA National)

Our Commitment to Mental Health

At CMHA Peel Dufferin, we believe that mental health is a community effort. It thrives on the collective action of individuals who reach out, support, and uplift one another. Throughout Mental Health Week, we are rolling out a series of initiatives aimed at empowering individuals and organizations to convert compassionate thoughts into meaningful action.

• Community Workshops: Join us for a FREE virtual workshop on May 8th, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM EST – Mental Health Awareness 101. (Register here before 12 PM EST on May 8th.)

• Awareness Campaigns: Follow our social media campaign on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook or X, and participate in our social media challenge #Compassionconnects, sharing stories and actions that have made a positive impact in your community.
